KNEC Clarifies Reports of Nyambaria High School Topping in 2023 KCSE
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) denied on Monday that Nyambaria High School had topped the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. KNEC highlighted a post suggesting that the Nyamira County school received an A average.
According to a viral post making the rounds on social media, the school received an A+ in all subjects. Kenyans were astounded by the accomplishment, especially given that the institution also performed well in the previous year’s exams.
Nyamira County Senator Okong’o Omogeni also published the results, congratulating the school on its supposed exceptional achievement.

Charles Onyari, the principal, was also suspended for alleged test irregularities.
Despite disregarding the results, KNEC did not reveal the top school and instead encouraged students to check their results at results.knec.ac.ke.
Following the announcement of the 2023 KCSE results, schools, students, and parents were seen celebrating the results across the country.
According to the results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu reported that 3,685 students out of the 903,138 registered did not sit for the examinations.
