KNEC Announces KCSE Examiners Training; How to Apply

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the training schedule for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners. The training program will take place between Monday, April 24, and Friday, April 28, 2023.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) training exercise will require all participants to reside on the premises. The agency will inform eligible applicants of the training location in due course.

Only those who make it to the shortlist will receive a text message (SMS) on how to pay the Ksh10,500 training fee.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will add the successful trainees to its database of examiners and recruit them based on each paper’s personnel requirements.

The KNEC has also issued a warning that teachers already trained as KCSE examiners and in the KNEC database of examiners should not apply.

The teachers are expected to train as examiners in a number of KCSE papers, including English, Biology, Chemistry, History and Government, Christian Religious Education, and Computer Studies.

In order to be considered for the training program, the general requirements for all trainee examiners include being a practicing teacher in the relevant subject area at the level of examination and being registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

The applicants must also have a Diploma in Education (and above) for KCSE marking and a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years.

Applicants must not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the TSC. Finally, the applicant must be below 50 years of age and be recommended by their headteachers to qualify for the training.

Qualified applicants can access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link www(dot)examinersapp(dot)knec(dot)ac(dot)ke. Those with Cp2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords.

Teachers who have forgotten their Cp2 passwords should click on the reset password button, enter their mobile number in the format (2547********), and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.

Those without Cp2 accounts should click on create an account and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.

The KNEC has warned that the training slots are limited, and only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise. Teachers should, therefore, ensure that they have all the necessary documents and meet the requirements before applying.
