Shock and grief swept the Chepseon district of Kipkelion East constituency after a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student committed suicide for unexplained reasons.
According to a provincial administration officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the student, identified as Peter Kipngetich Koech, 30, who was scheduled to graduate on Thursday, was suspected of committing suicide by injecting himself with an unknown drug.
According to the officer, the boy told his parents on Wednesday that he was going to Nairobi for the graduation ceremony at Kasarani Stadium on Thursday.

He stated that the deceased’s father, who is also a clinician in one of Kericho’s hospitals, handed him Ksh. 15,000 for the event.
According to the administrator, the dead went to their family houses in Chepseon Market on Thursday morning, found the watchman, and sought the key, informing him that he wanted to relax inside one of the houses.
The watchman obliged.
He then allegedly opened his father’s residence and injected himself with the drug.
The watchman went to check on him in the morning but was astonished to find him asleep in bed with the needle still lodged in his hand.
He shouted an alert, drawing the attention of other members of the public, who hurried to the site and attempted to save the deceased, who had already died.
