A viral photo captured the officer holding a newborn baby belonging to a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate whose delivery coincided with her final exams. Despite the challenging circumstances, the young mother was determined to sit for her papers, even if it meant doing so from a hospital room.

The identity of this compassionate officer remains undisclosed, but her actions have resonated with the public. Officer Sammy Ondimu Ngare shared the heartwarming photos, shedding light on the remarkable incident that took place at Katito Sub-County Hospital in Nyakach.

The student, hailing from Rae Girls High School, delivered her baby, yet her resolve to continue with her exams remained unwavering. In a moment of genuine motherly instincts, the unnamed female police officer stepped in to offer assistance, cradling the newborn to allow the student to focus on her examination.

Officer Ondimu highlighted the officer’s selfless act and emphasized the presence of “good officers” within their ranks, underscoring that police officers are indeed human beings capable of empathy and kindness.

Ondimu further expressed his admiration for the compassionate officer’s actions and initiated a search to find her, intending to gift her one of his signature “Askari ni Binadamu” (police officers are human) T-shirts. He praised the positive impact of such acts, acknowledging the tarnished image that the police service can sometimes bear.
