Kisumu County Distributes Sh.21 Million ECDE Learning Materials

The Kisumu County government has allocated Sh. 21 million towards acquiring educational materials for Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers. Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o announced this initiative, aiming to support 681 ECD centers and benefit 44,521 children.

The distribution ceremony, held at his office, highlighted the importance of these resources in enhancing educational standards in the region.

Nyong’o emphasized the significance of ECD in providing a strong educational foundation for young learners transitioning to primary school.

He underscored the county’s commitment to ECD, noting an annual allocation of Sh. 25 million for procuring such materials.

Additionally, he mentioned plans to supplement this effort with a nutrition program to support the overall health of students during their studies.

The Governor also outlined plans to build new ECD centers in areas lacking public primary schools, aiming to ensure equitable access to education for all children.

He expressed appreciation for ECD teachers, acknowledging their role in preparing students for further education and their positive impact on primary and secondary school performance.
