Kisumu County and Morocco’s Rabat-Sale Kenitra Sign MOU to Boost Health and Education Pact.

The Regional Council of Rabat-Sale Kenitra in Morocco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the County Government of Kisumu to enhance cooperation in the areas of health and education.

The agreement was signed by Regional Council of Rabat President, His Excellency Rachid El Abdi, and Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o of Kisumu County.

The MOU is supported by the Kingdom of Morocco and the Government of Kenya and aims to improve the provision of healthcare and education in both regions.

Enhancing Technology and Knowledge

Under the agreement, the two regions will work together to enhance technology and knowledge in the healthcare and education sectors.

The goal is to scale up preventive and curative healthcare by exchanging surgeons and other medical personnel.

The Regional Council of Rabat has also pledged to provide scholarships worth 15,400 Euros for Kisumu students to study Executive Masters Degrees in Morocco.

In addition to the MOU, the Regional Council of Rabat has set up a meeting with Kisumu County officials to explore other areas of collaboration.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in Rabat in September and will focus on how the two regions can collaborate in agriculture, tourism, business, and economic development.

The aim is to foster greater collaboration and shared prosperity between the two regions.

Kisumu Governor Prof. Nyong’o has praised the initiative, noting that it will go a long way in building capacity in the areas of collaboration.

He also stressed the importance of advancing Pan African relations, stating that the economic and cultural cooperation between the two regions is welcome.

A committee has been established to oversee the implementation of the MOU.

President El Abdi noted that Africa has a lot of potential and called for the integration of territorial communes for greater collaboration and shared prosperity.

The MOU between the Regional Council of Rabat-Sale Kenitra and Kisumu County is a step in the right direction towards achieving this goal.
