Kisumu Boys School Principal Dies At 60

Kisumu Boys School Principal Dies At 60.
Peter Obwogo, the principal of Kisumu Boys, died at the age of 60. After a brief illness, he was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.
“We are here because we have just lost our chief principal Obwogo,” said Charles Nyakiti, chairman of the School Board of Management.

 led the school in mourning on Friday. Mr Obwogo, who came from St Joseph’s Boys’ School in Kitale, has been the school’s principal for the last four years. He had a distinguished career that included being named principal of the year at St Joseph’s Boys in 2015.
Mr Obwogo leaves behind three widows and six children. He has been described as a hardworking and determined principal with solid academic plans.
Prof Nyakiti, a don at Kenyatta University, stated that Mr Obwogo was responsible for a number of infrastructural and academic projects at the school. Mr Obwogo was instrumental in the formation of the Kisumu School Academic Session, in addition to coordinating the construction of a number of buildings.

“The organisation, which was aimed at bringing together students and alumni, will be a great reminder of his great works,” said Prof Nyakiti. “He was a man worth emulating; we hope whoever takes over will follow in his footsteps.”
Sospeter Ojaamong, Governor of Busia, described the late headteacher, who was from his county, as an astute educator who had taught for 35 years.

“The cruel hand of death has robbed the county of a disciplined, hardworking, obedient and honest person whose managerial skills saw him forge a working ethic with teachers to earn him glory,” said Mr Ojaamong on his Facebook page, adding Mr Obwogo was planning to run for Matayos MP and was to retire later this month.
“Mwalimu Obuogo was set to run for the Matayos Parliamentary seat after retiring this month,” Mr Ojaamong explained.
The deceased’s three widows and six children survive him.
