KCSE, KCPE Exams to be Administered and Collected Twice a Day
David Njengere, the chief executive officer of the Kenya National Examinations Council, has issued several guidelines in preparation for the national examinations in 2023.
According to the chief executive officer, KCSE examinations will be administered and collected twice per day.
He stated that the morning paper will be collected and then returned when the afternoon paper is collected.
Njegere spoke on Monday at the KNEC headquarters during the opening of the examination seasons.

Njegere announced that, starting with this year’s exams, the collection of the KCSE examination papers would be conducted twice from the container.
He said the council will use 576 distribution centers or containers for the storage of Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and KCPE examinations.
In addition, 567 containers will be used to distribute KCSE papers.
Njengere reported that the council had acquired an additional 82 containers to facilitate the process, particularly due to the creation of 13 new sub-counties that lacked containers.
According to him, the council has mapped all examination centers to the closest distribution points so that each school can take up its exam paper more efficiently.

He mentioned that the mapping of examination centers would result in some centers collecting their examination materials from neighboring sub-counties or adjacent counties.
Additionally, the CEO stated that unauthorized personnel will not be permitted in any examination centers.
Njengere emphasized the importance of enhancing the security of the examination process by allowing only authorized personnel, such as center managers, supervisors, and invigilators, to enter any examination center. He requested assistance in strictly enforcing this measure.
Before the start of the exam period, he said, center managers will be required to compile a list of all on-duty support personnel and submit it to the sub-county directors of education.

In addition, he stated that the council will conduct a comprehensive briefing and sensitization of all exam administrators from October 2 to 6.
We encourage everyone to attend these briefings in person. “Do not delegate,” he pleaded.
“We will also be conducting our routine monitoring of examinations, and we encourage all of you to visit the examination centers when the exams begin to ensure strict compliance with the procedures and regulations of exam administration.”
He added that sufficient preparations have been made prior to the El Nino rains to ensure that assessments are not interrupted.
