KCSE Exams Kicks Off Countrywide

On Monday morning, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) main examinations commenced. Early in the morning, Ministry of Education officials were dispatched to various exam collection centers to oversee the distribution of examination materials.

At the Mvita center in Mombasa County, Teachers Service Commission (CEO) Nancy Macharia supervised the examination distribution, while Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang managed the exercise at the Westlands DCC center.

Kipsang emphasized that the primary emphasis should be on adding value to students’ education. He delivered this message during a media briefing on Monday, emphasizing that the efforts of school teams directly affect students’ outcomes.

The candidates have transitioned from practical examinations to primary subjects, a process that will conclude on November 24, 2023. Students in Form Four will take their first Chemistry and English Paper 1 theory examinations on Monday.

A minimum of 903,260 candidates will sit for the KCSE examination this year. They will complete their Mathematics Paper 1 and English Paper 2 on Tuesday.

Candidates will take English Paper 3 and Chemistry Paper 2 on November 8. The candidates will complete Kiswahili Lugha Paper 2 and Kiswahili Insha Paper 1 on Thursday.

They will be graded on their chemistry practicals on Friday. The examinations are scheduled to continue through November.

Principal Education Secretary Belio Kipsang was present at the Westlands subcounty containers for the commencement of the examinations. KNEC CEO David Njeng’ere launched the theory papers in Kiambu Town at the office of the deputy county commissioner.
