KCSE Candidate Electrocuted to Death after Her Biology Practical
A family in Mombasa is mourning over the passing of their Form Four candidate, who had recently completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education paper.
A candidate at Kajembe secondary school in Mikindani, Jomvu sub-county, Leonida Atieno, age 19, perished when she trod on a live electrical wire in the vicinity of her residence in the Bangladesh region.
Police say that the deceased had concluded her final KCSE Biological Practical examination. The commander of the Mombasa Police Department, Stephen Matu verified the incident, attributing it to the heavy rainfall falling in Mombasa.
He claimed that the deceased electrocuted herself while attempting to hang on to a suspended electrical wire to retrieve her shoes that the floodwaters had swept away.

The student, according to Matu, had taken off her shoes, but as she tried to retrieve them, water swept them away. In the process, she touched a live-hanging electricity wire to support herself, resulting in the loss of her life by the time rescue efforts were initiated.
