KCSE Candidate Collapse and Dies on His Way Home
A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidate died in Machakos County. The 21-year-old student from a small school in Yatta Sub County died on his way home from school on Tuesday.
The incident happened in Kiumoni village, Yatta subcounty, according to Yatta subcounty police chief Jane Makau.
Makau informed the Star over the phone on Wednesday that the student collapsed on his way home from school on Tuesday.
The candidate is believed to have died on the spot after collapsing.
According to independent reports, the deceased perished within a few meters from his parents’ home in the Kinyaata sublocation within the Ikombe division.

According to a source, the candidate is the only student from the school who uses that route, so he had to walk home alone.
The body was taken to Mbaku Funeral Home in Matuu town for an autopsy.
The police have looked into the incident.
Elswhere in Bomet County, a prison warder collapsed and died while manning exams at Kapchepkoro Secondary School in Sotik.
The officer complained of chest problems before falling, according to Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa.
The officer was brought to Kaplong Mission Hospital but died while being treated.

“We lost one of our officers this afternoon who had been deployed to man exams, which is very unfortunate.” The officer died while being treated at Kaplong Mission Hospital, according to Ndiwa.
He stated that inquiries regarding the cause of death have begun.
Ndiwa stated that the officer, who was based at Sotik GK Prison, had been assigned to the Chemagel Ward school since Monday and had displayed no signs of illness.
“The officer had not shown any signs of sickness since Monday when the exams kicked off,” he said.
