KCPE Candidates Die in Road Crash Ahead Of Results Release On Monday.
Candidates who had just finished their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams two weeks ago were killed in an accident on the Njoro – Mau Narok Road.
Isaac Odumbe, the Njoro Sub County Police Commander, confirmed the accident on Friday, March 25, stating that the two died on the spot.
Another person in the vehicle with the minors died on the scene, and a pedestrian was also killed in the accident.
Odumbe stated that the accident occurred around 10 p.m. when one of the front tyres of the car in which the minors were traveling burst.
“The car had five passengers including three boys whose ages we are yet to confirm,” the police boss stated.
The victims were returning home after attending an initiation ceremony at Kahiriga Kikuyu Shrine. According to police, the initiates graduated after staying at the shrine for 12 days.
According to Odumbe, the car burst its front tyre and rolled several times. One of the two survivors, according to the police chief, is in critical condition and is being treated at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru.
The initiates had spent the day celebrating their pass-out ceremony in preparation for the next round of festivities at their homes.
The bodies were transferred to the Egerton University Mortuary, while the damaged vehicle was towed to the Njoro Police Station.
In other news, an Ena Sacco bus was involved in an accident on the Nyamira – Ikonge Road on Saturday, March 26. According to witnesses, the bus, which was traveling from Kendu Bay to Nairobi, crashed near Nyamotaro.

Passengers with minor injuries were transported to Ekerenyo Hospital, while those with serious injuries were referred to Nyamira County and Referral Hospital.
The police rushed to the crash site to control the crowd that had gathered. After administering first aid, first responders transported the injured to hospitals.
