Kapsabet Boys School Wins Math’s Contest, Student Earns Scholarship to Study in Australia; Full Results
Kelvin Kemboi, a candidate in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Kapsabet Boys High School in Nandi County, emerged as the winner of a Mathematics contest held at the school.
The competition involved 76 high schools, and Kemboi’s outstanding performance secured him an academic scholarship to study in Australia, thanks to Grace International Migration.
This organization helps students connect with higher education institutions in various countries, including the UK, India, and the US.
Kemboi, thrilled about the opportunity, expressed his gratitude to God and his teachers for the inspiration.

“I thank God for the opportunity and my teachers for the inspiration. I promise to do my best while in Australia,” he said
Although he acknowledged mathematics as his favorite subject, he did not anticipate winning the contest.
He promised to make the most of his time in Australia and strive for excellence.
Moi Girls’ Eldoret Shines
Similarly, Kusolo Chepkesei from Moi Girls’ Eldoret excelled in Mathematics and earned a scholarship to pursue a degree of her choice at Strathmore University.
“Maths is my best subject and I love it. I practice on the subject very much,” she said

The 20th edition of the Annual Mathematics Contest, organized by Mr. Kipchumba Korir, aimed to bring together students from across the country to share their experiences and enhance their confidence in mathematics.
Kapsabet High School Maths Contest Champions to Study in Australia
The event received overwhelming participation, which pleased Dr. Kiplimo Lagat, the Nandi County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture.
Dr. Lagat, who also served as a motivational speaker during the event, expressed his delight at the high turnout of students and highlighted the role of mathematics in shaping his own career.

He encouraged students to work hard in mathematics to secure better career prospects and gain admission to universities.
Mathematics Contest Results
In the contest’s various categories, Kapsabet Boys’ High School emerged as winners.
In the Form One category, they achieved a mean score of 10.5, followed by Kipsigis Girls’ High School with 6.4, and Utumishi Academy securing the third position with a mean score of 4.4.
For the Form Two category, Kapsabet Boys’ High School continued their success with a mean score of 4.0, closely followed by Moi Girls’ Eldoret with 3.9 and Kipsigis Girls’ High School with 3.8.
In the Form Three category, Kapsabet Boys’ High School maintained their dominance, achieving a mean score of 7.5.

Friends School Kamusinga Boys’ High School secured the second position with a score of 6.0, while Paul Boit Boys’ High School and Moi Girls’ Eldoret shared the third position, both scoring a mean of 4.0.
Finally, in the candidate class’ contest, boys’ schools took the lead. Kapsabet Boys’ High School claimed the top position with a mean score of 6.0.
Thika High School secured the second position with 3.8, and St. Patrick’s Iten Boys’ High School came in third with a mean score of 3.7.
These results highlight the exceptional mathematical talent among Kenyan students and the dedication of the schools and teachers in nurturing their skills.
