Amos Wamanga, the head coach of Kakamega High School, has expressed his determination to bounce back after his team’s failure to qualify for the ongoing national school games in Eldoret Uasin Gishu County.

This marks the first time since 2015 that Kakamega has failed to make it to the nationals, as they were knocked out in the group stages of the regional competition.

According to Wamanga, the poor conditioning of his players compared to their opponents was the main reason for their failure to qualify. However, he has already begun working to close the gap and promised their fans that they would return stronger in both the sevens and 15s competitions next time. They have resumed training with this in mind.

Despite his disappointment, Wamanga praised the Butula team and their coach Shimenga Livondo, who he believes has what it takes to lead them to their first national title. Wamanga observed that they had a very talented team and that they had beaten Kakamega, which he saw as an indication of their skill and ability. If they make it to the final, they have what it takes to win the national title for the first time in their history.

Kakamega High School is a well-known sporting powerhouse in Kenya and has produced several notable sportsmen and women, including rugby players. The school has a reputation for excellence in academics and sports, and its teams have won numerous regional and national titles.

“They have a very good team. For them to beat us they must be having something special, and a great team. If they get to the final they have what it takes to win the national title for the first time in their history,” said Wamanga.

Wamanga’s vow to come back stronger shows the school’s commitment to maintaining its reputation and continuing to produce top athletes in various fields.
