Indian Varsities Invite Kenyan Students To Study Abroad; How To Apply.Kenyan students have been invited to study at fifteen Indian institutions of higher learning.On Tuesday, hundreds of students flocked to Nairobi’s Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence to sample the courses offered by these institutions.Maharishi Markandeshwar, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Rathinam College of Arts and Science, and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women are among the institutions.Rajagiri College of Social Science and National Institute of Technology Durgapur are two others.Prof Stephen Kiama, vice chancellor of the University of Nairobi, and Dr Paul Virander, Indian High Commissioner, attended the event.Kiama lauded the new initiative, saying it will help broaden access to education.“When people access university education, they are trained to think differently,” he said.Kiama stated that there is a need to examine how national exams have been managed in recent years.He stated that 145,000 students out of approximately 800,000 who took the 2021 KCSE exam received C+ or higher.“That is something in my view that needs to be addressed progressively so that those who can be able to follow through university education are allowed. And if they are not admitted here, they can be admitted in other parts of the world, including India,” Kiama said.According to Virander, India is a center of culture, technology, and innovation in order to meet the changing needs of the modern world.He stated that higher education is one of the country’s fastest growing sectors.India has the world’s second-largest higher education system, with over 45,000 colleges and 950 universities.According to Virander, advancements in various fields, combined with the country’s dynamic and diverse culture, make India a great option for students seeking further education.The Study in India programme is a flagship project launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in 2018.The program is intended to encourage international students to pursue their higher education in India.Study in India has attracted students from over 150 countries since its inception.According to Virander, the program provides a simple, user-friendly platform for students to research and apply to premier Indian institutes that offer globally recognized degrees.The Study In India program has 164 partner institutes that have been accredited by the government of India through the National Assessment and Accreditation Council or the National Institutional Ranking Framework.Students can choose from over 2,600 course options.
