HELB Begins Disbursement of Tuition Loans to Universities and TVET Institutions
The Higher Education Loans Board began disbursing tuition loans to universities and TVET institutions on Wednesday.
In a statement, Helb CEO Charles Ringera stated that the Old Higher Education Funding Model [OFM] maintenance loans for more than 175,000 undergraduate and over 70,000 TVET continuing students are currently being disbursed.
It will be distributed to students according to their selected payment methods (bank account or HELB Mobile Wallet).

Ringera said that Higher Learning Institutions (HLIS), including universities and colleges, have been advised to permit students to register as tuition fees for various institutions have been released.
These funds are expected to be reflected in the respective bank accounts of the HLIS by October 5, 2023.
The New Higher Education Funding Model [NFM] application deadline for both loans and scholarships is October 7, 2023.
