The headmaster of Rurii Primary School was arrested on Monday for barring a candidate from sitting his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
According to a police report, John Macharia Mwangi was arrested for violating the 13-year-right old’s to an education.
In the Midday incident, a student from the Mwea West Sub-County reported to school but was denied access to his class due to an outstanding fee balance.
According to the report, action was taken only after reports of the incident reached the Sub County Director of Education, who allowed the boy to sit his exams.
The incident was then reported to the police, who took the appropriate action against the teacher.
Since then, DCI Mwea has taken over the investigations.
Elsewhere, security forces have increased patrols after suspected bandits raided Kapkosum village in Mochongoi, Baringo South, disrupting national exams in two schools.
The students were taking the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, which began on Monday morning.
The bandits also disrupted local businesses, forcing some residents to flee their homes.
The security situation in the area has since been restored, according to police.
However, tensions in the area remain high, with residents fearful of another attack.
