Grief as Stanley Mutai, Former Vice Chairman of KNUT, Dies

Stanley Mutai, the first vice chairman of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), has passed away.

According to KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu, Mutai died in a Nairobi hospital while receiving cancer treatment.

Oyuu states that Mutai was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.

As the first National Vice-Chairperson of KNUT, Mutai held a prominent position within the union.

He played an integral role in advocating for the rights and welfare of teachers across Kenya.

Before his demise, Mutai also served as the executive secretary of the Kericho Branch. He won the election in 2021.

His commitment to improving the working conditions and salaries of educators was unwavering, making him a respected figure in the education community.

Collins Oyuu, confirmed the news and offered the union’s condolences.

The KNUT’s Secretary General, expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of a colleague and friend.

He praised Mutai’s dedication to the teaching profession and his significant contributions to KNUT’s mission.

Stanley Mutai’s battle with cancer came to a heartbreaking end as he breathed his last while receiving treatment at a prominent Nairobi hospital.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire education fraternity go out to Stanley Mutai’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Mutai also served as the executive secretary of the Kericho Branch before his demise. In 2021, he was elected.

John Wesonga, the second vice chair of the teachers’ union, also passed away in a Nairobi hospital after a protracted illness about two months ago
