Grade Two pupil Dies On His Way To School
On Monday morning, a motorcycle fatally struck and killed a Grade Two pupil in Kagio, Kirinyaga County.
The eight-year-old boy was killed on his way to school in the morning.
According to witnesses, the youngster was crossing the street when he was struck by a boda boda rider.
The deceased succumbed to his injuries on the spot in the Kagio-Kutus road collision that produced a severe traffic jam.
The rider fled, and police were searching for him for interrogation.
Residents reported that the biker was speeding when he struck the child, who was on his way to a private school nearby.
One resident remarked, “The rider was driving recklessly before he caused the murder of the young boy.”
Residents urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) to put safety bumps on the frequently congested road to prevent such fatal collisions.
Peter Mureithi, another resident, stated, “There are no speed bumps on this route, and the road agency should install them so that our children can go safely.”
The traffic police arrived quickly and transported the body to the Murang’a Referral Hospital morgue.
Wilson Koskei, commander of the Mwea West sub-county police, stated that the rider had committed a significant traffic offense and would be prosecuted.
