Tragedy struck Lieta Kabunde Primary School in Homa-Bay County, where two Grade Three pupils lost their lives in a heartbreaking incident.

The school had requested Ksh.1000 from each pupil, and both Juma and Ochieng had initially paid only Ksh.200 each. Subsequently, they were sent home to retrieve the remaining balance of Ksh.800.

Regrettably, the turn of events led to a devastating outcome as the children were discovered lifeless in the river on Thursday around noon.

Hilda Juma, the mother of Jim Paul Juma, expressed profound grief as she recounted her son leaving home at 6 am to attend school, only to be sent back home after three hours. Tragically, he was later found dead in the river.

Samson Nyong’o, the father of Peter Ochieng, pointed fingers at the school’s alleged illegal financial demands on parents, seeking answers from both the school administration and education officials regarding the untimely demise of the two pupils.
