Detectives from the Buruburu police station rescued a third-grade student from alleged kidnappers who demanded Ksh. 10 million in ransom.
According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, the father of the missing 9-year-old student had gone to the school in Donholm to pick him up when he discovered he was missing.
Moments later, he was informed that his son had departed the school grounds with his class teacher, Erick Mosoti.

The father reported the incident to local authorities after the kidnappers called and demanded the sizable ransom after failed attempts to contact the teacher.
Later, a joint operation by Nairobi Region Command and DCI Buruburu led to the minor’s rescue in the Kayole Sabasaba area, and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
According to the DCI, it was reported that the minor had been confined in a room that was allegedly rented by another teacher, identified as George Odhiambo, who is employed at the same school as the primary suspect.
Later, Fredrick Odhiambo was apprehended, and a motorcycle, a cell phone, and other items believed to have aided the crime were recovered.

In the meantime, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Elswhere, Police are holding a suspect in Holo, Kisumu West sub-county, on suspicion of kidnapping two schoolchildren, one of whom went missing from Kisii County last month.
The suspect was apprehended with the two minors at a funeral service yesterday evening after mourners observed him and raised the alarm.
Chief Mary Andhoga of the West Kisumu location reports that both of the children, aged 7 and 8, have been positively identified.
She reports that the missing child’s mother arrived at the Holo police station last night and positively identified her first-grade daughter.
Additionally, according to Chief Andhoga, they have determined that the other minor was abducted from Chabera in Homabay County, and they have already contacted administrators in the area who confirmed they had received reports of her disappearance.
She claims that locals who identified the suspect at the funeral verified that he was seen with the children at the Obambo market center while posing as a stranded traveler.
Chief Andhoga says the suspect feigned to be stranded with the kids two weeks ago and resorted to begging unsuspecting members of the public for transport fare to Homa Bay County.
She reports that one of the women who helped raise funds for the funeral noticed him at the funeral yesterday and notified the administrators.
The suspect is currently being detained at the Holo police station pending transfer to the Kisii police station, where the abduction was reported. He is suspected of molesting the two minors.
