Govt to Renovate Mukumu Girls High School Buildings
The government has launched a comprehensive program aimed at revitalizing the learning infrastructure at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County.
This initiative, spearheaded by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, seeks to modernize the school facilities and improve the educational environment for students.
“We want to create a Mukumu that will lead this country in one or two years. These are my deliberate efforts because my wife is a former student of this school,” he added.
Phase One: Funding for Asbestos Roof Removal:
As part of the initial phase, the government has allocated a budget of Sh10 million towards the removal of asbestos roofs from certain buildings on the school premises.
These roofs pose health risks due to the presence of asbestos, and their removal is essential for ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
By investing in infrastructure improvements, the government aims to create a positive educational experience for students at Mukumu Girls High School.
During a visit to the school on Saturday, Education Cabinet Secretary Machogu interacted with the students, expressing his enthusiasm for their achievements.
The Form Four candidates promised exceptional results, aiming for a mean score of 9.5 in the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Machogu assured students, parents, and the public that the food and water provided at the school were safe, dismissing claims of any ongoing issues or disruptions.
Reassurance and Clarification
Addressing over 1,900 students, Machogu confronted misinformation circulating in the media about the school.
He emphasized that learning programs had fully resumed and urged the students to stay focused on their education.
Machogu expressed his confidence in the new Board of Management, led by Fr. Vincent Mukokho, highlighting their collective experience in education.
Additionally, Principal Jane Mmbone received commendation for her outstanding track record in the field of education.
The board also includes former Principals Oliver Minishi, Rose Wanaswa, Diosiana Ahindukha, Patrick Nzaywa, and Polycarp Ishenyi, who currently serves as a lecturer at Bomet University.
