Girls Outshined In 2021 KCSE Results.Boys outperformed girls in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results for 2021.Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha stated that there was gender parity during the release of the results on Saturday at Milimani House.There were 421,318 males and 405,559 females among the 826,809 candidates who took the exam.“Of the 826,807 candidates who sat the 2021 KCSE Examination, 421,318 were male while 405,489 were female, representing 50.96% and 49.04% of the total candidature, respectively,” Magoha said.According to Magoha, 1,138 (0.14%) candidates received an overall Grade A, compared to 893 (0.12%) candidates in 2020.In terms of gender, 789 boys received an A plain, 3,819 received an A-minus, 8264 received a B plus, and 14,578 received a B plain.In contrast, 349 girls received straight As, 2,154 A minus, 5,199 B plus, 10,000 B plain, and 1,792 B minus.30,817 received a C plus, 39,951 received a C, 48,193 received a C minus, 57,849 received a D plus, 72,007 received a D, 93,798 received a D minus, and 26,578 received an E.While 349 girls received straight As, 2,154 received A minus, 5,199 received B plus, 10,467 received B plain, 17,891 received B minus, and 29,026 received C plus, 41,394 Cs, 51,213 C minus, 58,506 received D plus, 73,909 received Ds, 93,466 received D minus, and 19,573 received E.In comparison to the KCSE 2020 results, 589 boys received an A plain, 4,049 received an A minus, 8,815 received a B plus, 14, 932 received a B plain, 21,845 received a B minus, and 30,924 received a C plus.On the other hand, 304 girls received straight A’s, 2,371 A’s, and 5,612 B’s.304 girls received straight As, 2,371 received A minus, 5,612 received B plus, 10,275 received B plain, 16,349 received B minus, and 27,075 received C plus.Special requirementsIn 2021, there were 2,095 KCSE students who took the exams, with 1,134 males and 961 females.CS Magoha also announced that 223 (10.52 percent) of 2021 KCSE candidates received an overall grade of C+ or higher.Only two males received straight As, while nine received A minus, 22 received B plus, 26 received B plain, 41 received B minus, and 55 received C plus, 70 Cs, 107 C minus, 129 D plus, 214 Ds, 330 D minus, and 129 E.No females received an A, one received an A minus, five received a B plus, 27 received a B minus, and 31 received a C plus, 63 Cs, 64 C minus, 98 D plus, 227 Ds, 333 D minus, and 108 E.Magoha went on to say that 18 counties had more females than males, citing Central as an example.“All counties in central have more females in class including Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kitui, Meru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kakamega, VIhiga, Tharaka, Uasin Gishu, Laikipia,” he said.ALSO READ:The situation was similar in the 2020 KCSE results, with CS Magoha highlighting that 15 counties had more females enrolled than males.Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Turkana, and Homa counties had a high gender disparity in favor of males in 2020.Girls Outshined In 2021 KCSE Results
