Girls In Narok Overcome Early Marriages And FGM To Excel In KCSE.Despite the challenges they face in their educational journey, girls in Narok County performed well in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).Namunyak Girls’, with a mean grade of 9.1, and Sekenani Girls’, with a mean grade of 5.7, both in Narok West Sub County, are among the County’s top performing girls’ schools.The majority of the girls at the two schools have been rescued from early marriages and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and a number of them have been sponsored by donors.Namunyak Girls’ Principal Cecilia Teeka stated that 84 students participated in the school’s first-ever National Examination.The school had 28 girls who scored B+ (plus), 49 who scored B plain, six who scored B-, and one who scored C+, which means that all of the girls in the school have qualified to attend university. In Sekenani Girls’, 15 of the 70 girls met the university entry requirements.She expressed confidence that as the school grows, it will continue to produce better results, encouraging girls to believe that they, too, have the potential to perform similarly to the boys.“I am happy my school is one of the best in the County. I thank God for giving us the victory.
