GFP International Partnerships with TVETA to Boost Trade Skills Training in Africa

In a promising development, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) on Wednesday played host to a delegation from GFP International, a renowned US-based nonprofit organization.

GFP International’s primary objective during their visit was to explore potential collaborations in Africa, particularly in the fields of Welding and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, aimed at enhancing capacity-building efforts.

The meeting between TVETA and GFP International delved into various aspects of potential partnerships, with a particular focus on bolstering Welding trades within the TVET sector.

The overarching goal is to equip educational institutions and trainers with the necessary tools and resources to provide training programs that lead to internationally recognized certifications.

These certifications hold the promise of offering graduates enhanced employment opportunities both locally and on the global stage.

The GFP team, spearheaded by Chairman and CEO Michael J Vallez, included Ms. Nancy Halden, a distinguished board member, and Ms. Hilu Bura, the Country Manager of GFP International Tanzania.

On the other side, TVETA was represented by Dr. Paul Wanyeki, the Acting Director of Standards Development, Compliance, and Enforcement, alongside Michael Ambuli, the Assistant Director of Research, and Andrew Too from the office of the Director-General.

This meeting marks the beginning of what could be a transformative partnership between TVETA and GFP International, opening up exciting possibilities for skills development and international recognition for graduates in the Welding and Electrical and Electronics Engineering sectors.

Such collaborations are instrumental in driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and addressing the evolving needs of the job market in Kenya and across Africa.
