Former President, Faure of Seychelles Visits Maseno Girls School
Former Seychelles President Danny Faure visited Maseno Girls Boarding School in Kisumu and urged students to focus on their studies for a brighter future.
He told the pupils that the best way to change and brighten their future was through dedication and hard work.
Faure, a former teacher, also advised teachers to stay committed to their work and instill discipline in children in order to raise responsible citizens.
“I was once a teacher before becoming the president. You can make it in life through hard work, dedication and focus. Make good use of the opportunity you have to brighten your future,” he told the pupils.
He is part of a high-profile delegation in Kisumu for the Africities Summit.
When Faure visited the school on Monday, he was accompanied by school board chairman Bob Madanji and county government officials.
The former president, however, made no commitment to the school, but the administration is hopeful that his visit will open doors for future collaboration.
Madanji praised Faure for visiting the school to encourage teachers and pupils about educational issues.
Hellen Oginga, the school’s headteacher, also praised Faure’s visit, saying that his advice had elated and encouraged teachers and students.
“We are very happy today because we received a very important guest in our school. He came mainly to greet the girls and teachers. He encouraged the pupils and advised teachers,” Oginga said.
