Form Three Girl Commits Suicide After Being Accused of Stealing Sh2,500.
On Wednesday, a Form 3 girl reportedly killed herself in Matungulu, Machakos County.
Evans Mose, the deputy sub-county police commander for Matungulu, stated that the body was discovered swinging from the rafts of a toilet at a local school.
The incident was reported to the Tala police station on Wednesday at about 3.40 pm.
He stated that the girl was suspected of stealing Sh2,500 from a fellow classmate.
“She was adversely mentioned as a suspect by the majority of her colleagues when the matter was being investigated,” Mose told the Star on Thursday.
“The deceased admitted that she stole the said money and had kept it in the dormitory."
According to him, the teacher instructed the pupil to recover the money from where she had concealed it during recess and give it to the school administration.
The dead is said to have conceived the plan to end her life at that moment.
"The girl was given keys to the dormitory, but she failed to return. This prompted the deputy principal to go looking for her.
"Unfortunately, they found the girl’s body dangling from the roof of a toilet inside the dormitory building,” Mose said.
