Prof George Magoha, the Education Cabinet Secretary (CS), has reiterated that Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates will know the placement of their schools by Monday.
During the commissioning of two Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms at Nyondia and Karai Secondary Schools in Naivasha, the CS reassured parents and over 1.2 million candidates that the due process in form one slot placement was followed based on merit and performance.
The CS also stated that the ministry is on track to complete the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams by the end of this month, with candidates expected to receive their results by the end of this month.
Prof Magoha stated that the government-sponsored Elimu scholarship program for students from low-income families will benefit 9,000 applicants from across the country through the Ministry of Education.
He observed that the program will only benefit students who have been unable to obtain any other type of scholarship.
“The selection team will visit individual homes of the applicant to ascertain their eligibility for the scholarship,” said Magoha, adding that the ministry officials will get in touch with the many students who want to benefit from the program to enable them to join.
The CS reiterated that the ministry will ensure that the process of selecting the most deserving students for the scholarship program is transparent and accountable.
