Form One Girl Drowns While Crossing A River in Migori
A tragic incident has occurred in Migori County where a Form One student lost her life due to drowning in River Nyabsongo while attempting to cross.
The deceased, a student at Mobachi Secondary School in Suna West, was reportedly using a makeshift bridge when she slipped and fell into the river.

According to Area Assistant Chief Samwel Otieno, the 18-year-old girl was swept away by the strong currents of the river. It is suspected that she may have experienced an epileptic seizure while crossing the wooden bridge.
The unfortunate event was discovered by another student who witnessed the incident and promptly raised an alarm.

Upon receiving the distress call, locals rushed to the scene and successfully recovered the girl’s body from the river. Subsequently, the body was transported to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by makeshift structures and the importance of ensuring safety measures are in place, particularly in areas prone to such incidents.
