First Junior Secondary Students Cohort To Be Enrolled In Day Schools.Ruth Mugambi, technical advisor in the curriculum reforms department, has stated that the first cohort of junior secondary students will attend day schools rather than boarding schools.Students who are assigned to available secondary schools will not be sent to primary schools. Secondary school teachers will instruct the students.“Junior secondary program is a secondary school affair and students will be taught by teachers at the level,” Mugambi said Monday.The technical advisor was speaking during the third national update on CBC’s Sema na spox webinar.KICD, for their part, stated that they have already created curriculum designs ranging from PP1 to grade seven.KICD is currently developing additional course materials in preparation for the full rollout.Teachers are undergoing CBC training, which is expected to be completed by the end of this week.Over 60,000 secondary school teachers in both public and private schools are currently undergoing training.The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has trained a total of 229,000 teachers across 47 counties to date.The second phase of CBC classroom construction is also expected to be completed by the end of this month.Lawrence Karundini, Deputy Director for Secondary Education, stated that the Ministry is committed to ensuring secondary schools have adequate learning infrastructure.ALSO READ:Karundini revealed that 5,000 of the 6,495 new classrooms planned for construction have already been delivered to institutions.This year, the pioneer cohort is expected to take the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment.Over 1.5 million of these students will then move on to junior high school in January.First Junior Secondary Students Cohort To Be Enrolled In Day Schools
