Mobile phones are causing headaches in the administration of national examinations.
CS Education According to George Magoha, the government is considering a total ban on cell phone use in schools during exams. “Cell phones are the greatest single enemy we have today,” he said.
“There is no way there could be answers on those phones. A few teachers are accessing exams early before exam time, but the test has not leaked,” Prof Magoha said.
According to the CS, reports that mobile phones confiscated in exam rooms contained exam answers were false.
The CS was responding to reports that three counties have been called in after three teachers and a student were discovered with photos of KCSE exam papers. Nairobi, Kisii, and Garissa, he said, are on the ministry’s radar.
Prof Magoha cited Sir Newton High School in Eastleigh, Nairobi, where a teacher was discovered photographing test papers.
“The matter is being investigated by the police,“ the CS said after dedicating a CBC classroom at Precious Blood Girls High School in Riruta.

According to CS Magoha, a KCSE candidate from Eastleigh High School was caught in the exam room with a mobile phone and screenshots of questions sent by someone from Daraja Mbili in Kisii.
A principal, a supervisor, and four invigilators were arrested in Elsewhere after four mobile phones containing exam materials were discovered in the toilet.
Following a routine Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams check-up by the sub-county security committee team on Tuesday, 25 candidates from a school located at Kakuma Refugee camp in Turkana were found in possession of mobile phones and cash.
