Father Beats Son to Death for Refusing to Go Back to University
In Kipkelion, Kericho County, a man is currently in police custody, accused of fatally beating his son due to the son’s excessive drinking and refusal to return to university to resume studies.
The individual, commonly known as Kakamega, reportedly assaulted his fourth-year student son from Karatina University. The son’s offense was indulging in alcohol instead of rejoining the reopened university at the beginning of this month.

Upon returning home, Kakamega discovered his son in a drunken state, a sight that reportedly infuriated him.
Seeking an explanation for his son’s failure to return to university, Kakamega confronted him, expressing frustration that he had sold family assets, including land, to finance his education.
A heated argument ensued, leading the enraged father to seize a piece of wood. Subsequently, he wrestled his son to the ground and began beating him, causing severe injuries.

During the incident, the man’s wife was not present at home, as she was attending a relative’s funeral in Nandi County.
Distressed calls from the home prompted villagers to intervene and rescue the son from the furious father, who was intent on harming him.
The injured son received initial medical attention at Fort Ternan sub-county hospital before being transferred to Kericho County Referral Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The suspect, now in police custody, awaits arraignment at Kipkelion Police Station pending the conclusion of investigations into the tragic incident.
