In a solemn atmosphere at the Shalom Morgue in Athi River, Machakos County, family and friends have gathered to undergo the postmortem examination of three-year-old Baby Liam Kipruto.

The unexpected demise of the young child has plunged his loved ones into deep shock and sorrow, especially following distressing revelations from GoodRich International School, where Liam was a pupil.

Reports indicate that the fatal accident involving Liam occurred shortly after he left the school premises. Distraught relatives recount their interaction with the school bus driver upon arriving at the scene.

Deborah Nasiremde, a family member, reported that the driver mentioned that Liam, seated next to him, unexpectedly opened the door and fell out, leading to the tragic incident.

However, Liam’s family remains skeptical of this explanation. They question why the bus driver and a matron failed to drop off Liam at their home, a mere two kilometers from the accident site.

Additionally, they express concerns about allowing Liam to occupy the co-driver seat without proper supervision.

Mercy Nasirembe, Liam’s mother, is resolute in her pursuit of the truth surrounding her son’s demise. In an interview with Citizen TV, she urged the school administration for transparency, demanding answers to why her son was taken to that area and why he was not returned home. She emphasized, “I want to know the truth.”

Elijah Kimtai, Liam’s father, shares similar apprehensions regarding the lack of adequate care provided to their child during the journey.

Responding to the incident, authorities apprehended the bus driver, identified as James Muoki, who was subsequently released on a 30,000 shillings cash bail, with further legal proceedings scheduled for Monday.

Meanwhile, amidst accusations of negligence from the grieving family, the school administration has chosen to remain silent, neglecting to address the concerns raised.

Expressing frustration with the school’s silence, Mercy Nasirembe stressed the importance of obtaining clarity, stating, “In as much as I have lost my son, I need to know what really happened.”

A postmortem examination revealed that Liam’s tragic death resulted from severe head injuries sustained from being struck by the bus.
