Family Group Foundation Scholarship Program’s method of transforming families’ lives by reducing poverty is to assist bright and needy students from low-income families in enrolling in secondary school.
However, this is only half of the battle; the other half is ensuring successful completion.
Through a robust mentorship program, the foundation staff and corporate group mentors track its students’ progress and academic performance once they are enrolled to ensure successful completion of secondary school.

Family Bank Limited (FBL), Kenya Orient Insurance Limited, and Daykio Plantations Limited formed the Family Group Foundation in October 2012. (DPL).
FBL, KOIL, and DPL have benefited from the Kenyan economy’s growth in the finance, insurance, and real estate sectors over the last 25 years.
However, this expansion has highlighted the inequalities in our society, leaving many families in the community impoverished and without access to the resources they require to support themselves.
The leadership of these institutions realized that an immediate response to the challenges was required.
In response, FBL, KOIL, and DPL each engaged in a number of CSR activities separately, but over time discovered that this strategy of small and scattered interventions did not produce the desired results.
A review of this approach resulted in the recognition of the benefits of acting corporately for the social good, and the establishment of The Family Group Foundation.
The foundation’s primary focus is on the expansion and restructuring of select CSR activities previously run by its founding sponsors, as well as the launch of new interventions that are more responsive to the challenges confronting Kenyan families.
