6 Essential Documents for Kenyan Visa Applicants Seeking Work Abroad
The government of President William Ruto engaged into agreements with specific foreign governments to export human capital.
However, many Kenyans are unable to benefit from the agreements due to difficulties encountered during the application process, such as the inability to obtain work visas or permits.
Ivy Mariol of Worth Start Africa Limited, a travel agency, shared the documents required to obtain a work permit on Tuesday, June 13.
Teachersupdates.co.ke has compiled the essential requirements that apply to all diplomatic missions, despite the fact that embassy-specific requirements vary.
Academic credentials
A candidate applying for a skilled position overseas must provide evidence of his or her academic and professional qualifications.
This is accomplished by submitting a detailed curriculum vitae (CV) and a copy of academic credentials.
“You must provide evidence that you are qualified for the job for which you are applying. “If you are applying for a job in Information Technology (IT), for instance, you must demonstrate your qualifications in the field,” Mariol advised Kenyans on NTV.
Person identification documents
The embassy will require authentic copies of your identification documents in order to verify your identity.
These include a valid passport, a valid national identification card, and a birth certificate.
Identification documents for kin
Mariol clarifies that the embassy requires evidence of familial connections. This affirms that you will return to Kenya at the conclusion of your contract.
Numerous immigrants use the work permit visa as a loophole to permanently leave their country of origin.
You must also provide copies of your parents’ and spouse’s (if applicable) identification cards, your children’s identification cards if they are over 18 years old, and birth certificates for juveniles.
Good Conduct
Convicted felons are not granted work permits by embassies; a criminal record results in automatic rejection.
You must provide an authentic copy of the good conduct certificate issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to demonstrate that you are a law-abiding citizen.
