Magoha asserts that the education sector needs leaders who embody the national dream and are determined to see it through to its logical conclusion.

In his advice to the nominated Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu, Magoha asks him to embrace teachers.

“Teachers dictate both the frequency and quality of service delivery that is relatable to the learner, the parent, the guardian and the community in which the school is located,’’ he stated.

During the first decade of the most recent reform efforts, which spanned from 2013 to 2022, the sector experienced tremendous growth due to an obvious increase in enrollment at all levels of education, and quality improvement projects were piloted and implemented.

‘‘Do not abandon your original plan to respond or engage in political talk and promises. Anchor your actions in solid research data and plans. Remain faithful to the sector strategy and do not fear being sacked or moved,’’ Magoha said.

Magoha added that ministers who wish to live should avoid firefighting, board meetings, and roadside performances.

“There will be a general desire to obtain early achievements for the government. That is why you see my office out there in schools like headless chicken,’’ he said.

Magoha said that assuming a new position may be an exception due to the sector’s evolution, development, and transformation during the past decade.

However, Magoha says that emphasis should be placed on modernized monitoring support and assessment mechanisms for curriculum delivery.
