Effective teaching will make the success of education reform.

Evidently, teacher education must be revised for the goal of securing education reform, given the above arguments.

Teachers in the service, in training, and those willing to enter the service must participate in the reform dialogue. Teachers must own and facilitate the entire change process.

The teaching staff must comprehend three key issues: why is reform necessary? Regarding whom? And in what measure? This should include helping the practicing teacher to comprehend the purpose of the reform, its scope, the content under consideration during the reform window, the desired balance attainable, delivery approaches, and the differentiation regarding planning, management, and the new assessment approaches.

In addition to a multitude of other proposals, it is suggested that practicums (teaching practice) ensure place during school periods, that talent identification be encouraged, and that teacher education be monitored.

First, to take this to the next level, the teacher must be aware of the proposed changes. Early Years Teacher Education and middle school teacher education require 2,160 hours of course work and 1,080 hours of practicums.

THREE LEVELS

Early teacher education, middle school teacher education, and secondary teacher education will comprise the new structure’s three tiers.

It is proposed that the framework of teacher education be given as an integrated Bachelor of Education or Postgraduate Diploma. For an integrated B.Ed., candidates must study 252 hours each teaching course and 2160 hours of practicum.

Postgraduate Diploma applicants must have earned two teaching subjects at the bachelor’s level.

A proposal suggests offering the Post Diploma in Technical Teacher Education/Diploma in Special Needs Teacher Education as a post-diploma program or Post Graduate Diploma, with a minimum of three years’ experience in the relevant field.

The suggestion is to develop Key Quality Teaching Standards and competency indicators as a basis for assessing and identifying appropriate areas for Continuous Professional Teacher Development.
