Education CS Machogu Defends e-Citizen for School Fee Payments
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has defended the decision to implement school fee payments through the e-Citizen platform, emphasizing its purpose to bolster accountability and transparency within the system.
Machogu stated that upon receipt of funds through the platform, they would be promptly recorded and transferred directly to the respective school accounts.

The initiative, announced by the ministry on Friday, will initially focus on national schools. In order to facilitate this transition, schools have been instructed to furnish their bank details to the ministry.
Machogu explained that this approach simplifies the tracking of funds and streamlines auditing processes.
He highlighted the discrepancies often found between reported and actual collections, asserting that the new system will mitigate such issues.

With the aid of advanced technology, he assured that funds will reach school accounts expeditiously.
Looking ahead, Machogu disclosed that in the subsequent term, extra-county and county schools will also be mandated to furnish their information, preparing for the forthcoming migration.
