A primary school deputy headteacher is facing charges after being caught defiling a student in Kanyabala, Homa Bay County.
The teacher, who lives in the private school compound, was caught with the 15yearold girl, who had just finished her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam the week before.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the teacher has repeatedly defiled the girl.
However, the proverbial 40 days of a thief arrived for the teacher after the village elder, accompanied by health officials, went to the house to conduct residual spraying for mosquitoes to prevent Malaria spread.
When the village elder went through the house in the morning, he allegedly saw the two in bed.
They arrested the teacher and notified the area assistant chief, who arrived on the scene accompanied by police officers.
They were taken to the Rodi Police Station, where the teacher is being held pending arraignment.
