Delays in Capitation Funds Worry KUPPET as School Principals Stay Mum

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has accused the national government of withholding school capitation.

KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori revealed that the school administrators are discreetly struggling.

Misori points out that some principals are reluctant to admit they have not received funds from the national treasury, despite receiving four circulars since September 15.

“The principals are reluctant to admit they have not received funds from the national treasury, despite receiving four circulars since September 15.

He said the education ministry must ensure the release of funds for smooth operation. Misori was speaking in Nandi South during the union’s AGM.

Misori expressed concern that the government is withholding these funds at a crucial juncture when schools are entering a critical examination period that demands adequate preparation for students, including the provision of necessary practical materials.

He emphasized that the principals did not receive over Sh10 billion in total, and this amount remains unaccounted for.
