Daystar University Visionary Founder, Faye Smith Dies at 95
Faye Smith, a co-founder of Daystar University in Athi River, died after a protracted illness.
The institution’s statement revealed that the co-founder perished at the age of 95.
She was remembered as a woman with a cheerful disposition, a talented information curator, and for her many talents.

Throughout the years, the eulogy highlighted that Faye had been a steadfast and intimate companion to her husband Don Smith as they jointly followed their missionary vocation.
She will be remembered for her numerous talents, her joyful disposition, and her remarkable ability as an information curator. Her health had been in decline for the past seven years, ultimately leading to her passing.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Main Campus Amphitheater on Saturday, October 14, 2023, according to the statement. The burial will then commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Heroes Corner.
Faye and her husband founded the university in 1974 with the help of US acquaintances and the Tyndale Foundation to acquire property in Nairobi. The company’s name at the time was Daystar Communications.

After changing its name to Daystar University College, the company received a Charter for Daystar University in 1994.
Faye, who was born in Eugene, Oregon on December 26, 1928, wed Don on June 25, 1950.
In 1952, they launched their missionary work in South Africa.
Later, Don and Faye moved to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where they founded Daystar Communications alongside Motsoko Pheko.
Son: D. Vance Smith, his wife Lucia Smith, and their daughter Olivia Smith; Daughter: Julisa Rowe, her spouse Bill Rowe, and their two sons, Kendall Rowe and Nathaniel Rowe.
