CS Moses Kuria Announces NYS Recruitment Dates for 2024
In preparation for the upcoming National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment exercise set to occur between February 5-9, 2024, Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, responsible for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, emphasized the necessity of a meticulous and transparent distribution process across all wards.
In a letter addressed to NYS Director General James Tembur, CS Kuria highlighted the importance of promoting equality and fairness in the distribution of recruits, emphasizing the role of NYS in fostering national unity.

To ensure compliance with the recruitment program and maintain transparency, Kuria outlined various guidelines for the exercise.
Among these directives, stakeholders are required to distribute the schedule to all involved parties, uphold integrity and professionalism, report any discrepancies encountered, and establish regular monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
CS Kuria asserted that the exhaustive approach to recruit distribution aligns with the objective of enhancing public trust and equitability in the NYS recruitment process. He stated that this approach will significantly contribute to the overall success of the exercise.

These directives from the Cabinet Secretary follow President William Ruto’s announcement approximately two months ago, revealing plans to increase the NYS trainee intake from the current 10,000 to 15,000 per cohort, beginning this year.
The President aimed to achieve an annual enrollment of 100,000 for the next five years, positioning NYS as the incubator for various government branches.
