Candidates Sit Their KCPE Exams In Hospital.
Two KCPE candidates for 2021 will take their exams from the hospital where they will be delivered.
The two are among the 4,243 candidates taking exams in Msambweni sub-county today.
Dr Julius Jwan, Principal Secretary for Education in Kisii, said one candidate is taking her exam at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after giving birth on Sunday.
“We have one candidate who may be doing exams in hospital and adequate arrangements have been made to ensure that she takes the exam at Busia County Referral hospital,” Busia County Director of Education, Thaddeus Awuor, said on Monday.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2021 examinations began this morning, with 1,225,693 candidates expected to take the exams.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), this represents a 2.86 percent increase over the number of KCPE candidates who registered for the national exam last year.
This means that 34,085 (34,085) more candidates are taking the KCPE this year than last year.
The exam will be held in 28,248 exam centers across the country and will be overseen by 242, 406 teachers assigned by the Teachers Service Commission.
The national exam began at the Msambweni center and was distributed to exam managers as planned, with security personnel stationed at each location.
According to Msambweni education director Abraham Nyamawi, the sub-county has 84 centers, but some have been merged and reduced to 67.
According to him, one of the candidates will take her exam at Msambweni referral hospital, while the other will take it at Kinondo Kwetu private hospital.
Speaking to the media after supervising exam distribution alongside Msambweni DCC Lotiatia Kipkech, the Education Director stated that there had been no reports of teachers arriving late and that exams had begun on time.
Msambweni DCC Lotiatia Kipkech urged the local community to create a conducive environment for candidates to complete their exams without disrupting wedding celebrations.

According to education officials in the area, two other students in Matuga and Kinango are also taking their exams in the hospital due to illness.
There is enough security and transportation to ensure a smooth exercise while presiding over the distribution of examination papers for 113 schools in Kisii Central Subcounty Jwan.
He stated that plans are in place to ensure that 4,510 candidates, 2279 boys and 2231 girls, do not miss the exam.
