Butula Boys Rugby Team Poised to Make Mark in East Africa School Games
Shimenga Livondo, the head coach of Butula Boys High School’s rugby team, has called on his forwards to improve their finishing ahead of the East Africa school games in Rwanda in August.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Shimenga expressed his concern about his team’s ability to finish games and stressed the need for improvement. He believes that mastering this aspect of the game will prevent them from being put under pressure at the last minute.
According to Shimenga, the team has had a difficult time transitioning from sevens to 15s rugby, but he is glad that their hard work has paid off. Butula Boys High School recently won their first national title against a tough opponent, All Saints from Embu, in the finals held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.
However, Shimenga is aware of the challenging task that awaits them in Rwanda and is determined to prepare his team adequately for the competition.

Shimenga has also set his sights on winning the sevens title in next term’s games. He is seeking to reclaim the title he last won in 2019 while at St Peter’s Mumias. The veteran tactician is optimistic about his team’s chances and hopes to represent the country well and bring back the trophy.
Butula Boys High School’s rugby team has been working hard to improve their game, and Shimenga’s call for better finishing is a testament to this. Rugby is a physically demanding sport that requires a high level of skill and teamwork, and Butula Boys High School’s success is a reflection of their hard work and dedication.
The East Africa school games will bring together the best teams from the region, and the competition will be intense. However, Shimenga and his team are focused on the task ahead and are determined to give it their all.
The games will not only provide an opportunity for the team to showcase their skills but also a chance for them to learn from other teams and improve their game.
