Bungoma ‘Lazy’ Contractors Given Upto Sunday To Complete CBC Classroom

Contractors working on Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Western have been told to finish the work by Sunday.

Prof George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, stated that the completion of the classrooms will allow for a smooth transition from Grade Seven to Junior Secondary school.

Prof Magoha stated in Bungoma during the commissioning of CBC classrooms at St Mathew ACK Secondary School that the county should have all CBC classrooms ready in three days, as previously planned, for the benefit of learners expected to report early next year.

The CS, who held an impromptu meeting with education stakeholders from Bungoma County, stated that they agreed to have the CBC classrooms project expedited in order to meet the deadline.

“We have agreed that contractors have up to Sunday to complete the works because a child in Bungoma is like any other child in this country.

According to Prof Magoha, the decision was made after it was realized that Bungoma was falling behind, despite the fact that statistics show that the CBC classrooms project was completed completely across the country.

Prof Magoha stated that the county has 316 CBC classrooms, but “the contractors are lazy and have not completed the construction works as envisaged.”
