The headteacher of Kiricha Primary School, located in Bomet County, has been absent from duty for three consecutive days after allegations surfaced that he defiled a 13-year-old grade six pupil.

The incident is said to have occurred last week, when the suspect allegedly lured the pupil into his office at 5 pm while the other children were outside in the field.

Francis Ng’anga, the police boss of Sotik Sub-County, confirmed that his officers have been attempting to record statements from the suspect, but he has not been seen since.

Efforts to locate the headteacher have been ongoing, with the police working in conjunction with education officials in the sub-county.

Ng’anga expressed that if the suspect is innocent, he should come forward and resume his duties as usual. However, as of now, the headteacher’s whereabouts remain unknown.

In response to the situation, on Wednesday, parents and education officers advised students to stay home in order to allow for discussions on finding a solution.

Parents have reportedly threatened to withdraw their children from the school if the suspect is allowed to return as headteacher.

The alleged defilement case has caused significant concern among the community and has left the school in a state of uncertainty.

The headteacher’s absence from duty has further exacerbated the situation, and efforts are being made to resolve the issue and ensure the safety and well-being of the students at Kiricha Primary School.
