Bandits Kill Blind School Headteacher in Baringo
Tension is escalating in Ngaratuko area of Baringo County following the tragic killing of a blind school headteacher by bandits during an attack on Saturday morning.
Thomas Kibet, the headteacher of Kagir Primary School, was riding a motorcycle with his wife and child when the incident occurred.

They were en route to an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Kipcherere Secondary School, where their other children attend, when the bandits struck.
The family was ambushed by the bandits, who fatally shot Kibet in the head, instantly killing him. Baringo County Police Commander Julius Kiragu confirmed the incident, stating that the assailants attacked the three victims without warning.

Kibet’s wife and child are currently receiving medical treatment at Marigat sub-county hospital. This incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
It’s worth noting that Kibet had previously survived a bandit attack in 1978 at the age of 9, while he was herding his father’s cattle. He sustained a gunshot wound to his right eye, which ultimately rendered him completely blind.
