All Pending TVET Certificates To Be Issued by End Of Year
The State Department for Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET) has pledged to issue all outstanding TVET certificates by the end of the calendar year.
During the 15th commencement ceremony at the Nkabune Technical Training Institute in Meru on Friday, TVET Principal Secretary Dr. Esther Muoria announced that individuals who have faced challenges in graduating or meeting the requirements for their commencement will undergo investigations.
Dr. Muoria reaffirmed the department’s dedication to resolving this issue, recognizing the prolonged wait for certificates by trainees who require them for various purposes.
Muoria says they are engaging in a process similar to a cleanup operation to fulfill their commitment.

The PS added that the department has already begun retooling CDAC and trainers in order to improve the quality of learner training.

The first cohort of 94 trainers has already completed their retraining at the Nyeri National Polytechnic. Preparations are underway for the arrival of the second cohort.

This retraining initiative aims to ensure that all trainers receive the necessary skills and knowledge.
Dr. Muoria announced that they would retrain the CDACC and trainers on the use of apparatus after recrafting and pedagogical retooling. The objective is to ensure that everyone can utilize these tools and instruct trainees in their application.
She mentioned that the program would continue into the following year. This will equip all trainers, assessors, and curriculum developers to perform their roles effectively by the middle of next year.
The PS also emphasized a collaborative initiative with the ICT department to promote digital literacy. They have established digital labs in 94 institutions. Each is equipped with a minimum of 100 Virtual Desk infrastructures (VDI). This is to prepare students for online job opportunities on an international scale.
