Aldrine Kibet: St Anthony’s Boys School Football Sensation to Join Spanish Club

Seventeen-year-old Aldrine Kibet has swiftly risen to become a prominent figure in Kenyan football. Emerging from the ranks of St. Anthony’s Boys High School, this young football talent is now poised to make his mark in the international arena, as he embarks on a journey to a Spanish club.

However, the aspirations of numerous Kenyans are firmly fixated on Aldrine Kibet, the latest sensation in the world of football. His remarkable performance at the Kenya School Sports Arena (KSSA) competition, where he garnered the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, has ignited a wave of optimism.

Aldrine Kibet, an agile forward, boasts an impressive blend of speed and a potent striking ability—qualities that have grown increasingly rare in today’s football landscape. This uniqueness has led to discussions about his potential valuation in an era defined by inflated transfer fees.

His goal-scoring prowess can be attributed to his exceptional ability to exploit attacking channels, deftness at pulling wide and cutting inside, and timely arrival in the box. His delicate maneuvers frequently leave defenders in their wake, which contributes to his goal-scoring prowess.

The echoes of his name filled the air among the devoted St. Anthony supporters throughout the competition, resonating across the stands as he consistently found the back of the net. His astonishing tally of 25 goals and 27 assists throughout the tournament solidified his position as a beloved figure among the fans.

On Saturday, August 12, a defining moment occurred when he secured victory for his school against Dagoretti High at the Kenya School’s Sports Arena (KSSA), further cementing his legacy in the annals of local sports.

He appeared to be in luck after this amazing display of skill. According to reports, a second division Spanish club with a base in Madrid had scouted the young prodigy; the club’s identity was unknown at the time of publication.

It is anticipated that he will join the club’s under-18 squad, then the under-23 squad, and finally the first-team squad when he is ready.

He is expected to leave the country soon.

Real Madrid, the 14-time European champions, call Madrid home, along with their formidable cross-town rivals, Atlético Madrid, who have won the La Liga championship on 11 occasions.

In addition to Rayo Vallecano, Getafe CF, CF Fuenlabrada, AD Alcorcón, and CD Leganés, the Spanish capital is home to five other prominent clubs: Rayo Vallecano, Getafe CF, CF Fuenlabrada, and AD Alcorcón.

“One day I will help Arsenal win the league,” Kibet said after St. Antony’s ‘s victory over Dagoretti High.

President William Ruto, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, among other local authorities, have praised Kibet’s accomplishments.

His unwavering dedication and President Ruto’s invaluable encouragement propel the attacking midfielder’s career forward.

“The journey began many years ago. In those days, I was known as Messi, my idol, but I decided to abandon the moniker when I entered high school in order to establish my own name, Aldrine Kibet,” he said on July 15.

President Ruto facilitated Kibet’s introduction to Kenyan football legends Victor Wanyama, McDonald Mariga, and Nigerian striker Yakubu Aigbeni.

Kibet, who was named after the second person to walk on the moon (Edwin Aldine), is determined to take his vocation to even greater heights. Future goals include earning Harambee Stars caps and playing for a premier club in a prominent European league.

In 2023, he reached a significant milestone by scoring the game-winning goal against Goseta High in a county contest. In addition, he demonstrated his prowess by scoring against Christ the King High in the finals of the Rift Valley Regionals.

Kibet is one of the most gifted and sprightly Kenyan athletes in multiple sports.

Angella Okutoyi (19), who has received recognition for her outstanding tennis performance, is another notable talent. In addition, Noah Kibet (19) won the silver medal in the men’s 800 meters at the 2022 World Indoor Athletics Championships.
