As schools commenced term 1 on Monday nationwide, parents at Tinet Primary School in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County expressed their discontent over poor performance.

The parents, disturbed by the low scores achieved by students in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, took action by locking the school gate, head teacher’s office, and staffroom on Monday morning.

In the 2023 KCPE exams, more than 32 candidates scored between 100 and 190 marks, while another 20 received less than 250.

Addressing the situation at the institution, over 300 parents declared that they would not permit their children to attend the school unless the head teacher, Judy Sang, is transferred.

They allege having filed complaints with the county education offices, but no remedial action has been taken.

The parents also voiced concerns about the alleged secretive sale of school property, including maize, cows, and milk.

Despite attempts by Citizen Digital to reach the sub-county director of Education, David Kipsaat, and the headteacher, Judy Sang, all calls went unanswered.

As of press time, no education official had appeared at the institution.
